OFF-SITE EVENTS

Driving Tour

Tour participants will depart the Delta by Marriott Hotel at 8:30 am heading west along rural roads through the picturesque fall scenery of Southwest Michigan. The destination is Saugatuck – a quaint village on the shore of Lake Michigan and site of spectacular sand dunes. The eclectic blend of upscale boutiques and art galleries, outdoor gear, and artisan goodies offer ample opportunities to browse and shop. For more details click here.

In Saugatuck, tour participants will experience a 70 to 90-minute cruise on the Star of Saugatuck II along the Kalamazoo River and harbor area and enter majestic Lake Michigan if conditions allow. For more details click here

There will be a tour of Macatawa Bay Boat Works, a highly-regarded restorer of classic wood boats. To see the Works’ winners click here.

There will also be time for lunch at the Coral Gables housed in a 112-year-old historic structure that has long served as hotel and restaurant for tourists and locals alike. For more details click here.

The return trip will traverse rural roads, or major highways, as each participant prefers or stay for dinner in Saugatuck.

Bus Tour to GM Heritage Center

Luxury coaches will depart the Delta by Marriott Hotel at 7:30 am for the GM Heritage Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan that serves as the showplace for GM’s Heritage Collection. The 81,000 square foot building has over 165 significant cars illustrating GM progress from its beginning to current time. Lunch will be provided as part of the tour. The buses will return in sufficient time to prepare for and drive to the Cadillac Museum for the evening’s Gala Reception. Click here.

Discover Kalamazoo – Spouse Program

A bus will depart the Delta by Marriott at 9:30 am for an exclusive backstage tour of the Miller Auditorium, the premier performing arts venue in Southwest Michigan. Then, it is on to the Fetzer Center, also on the campus of Western Michigan University for lunch to be served on its scenic outdoor patio (weather permitting). 

After lunch, the tour will head for the Kalamazoo Mall, the first outdoor pedestrian mall in the US, for an afternoon of exploration of many unique boutiques, galleries, and other shops of interest. Guides will be available to provide general guidance and assist as necessary. But, you are free to explore on your own. For those interested, the guide will take you to Tempo Vino winery for a tasting ($7.00 extra).
